PFF,, where do I start. I was born and raised in the faith. At the age of 18 I chose to seriously date a Pentecostal girl. At 19 I got engaged, which lead to both parents disowning me.

My mother epically told me the day I get married to that Pentecostal tambourine playing Jezebel, she'll wear black because it will be a funeral for her.

I begged, pleaded with them to not be this way. I very much wanted them to be a part of this and our lives. They proceeded by giving us an ultimatum of either planning our wedding, or nothing. They took over, planned it on a Sunday, much to the disappointment of my wife, her family and fellow brethren in their faith (which by that time was my faith as well) and it was awesome for them and their friends, but horrific for us.

We still tried even after to patch things up along the years, but most recently I threw a birthday party for my son (his 3rd birthday). I invited my parents over. I told them it was on a Saturday (to convenience OUR friends and my wifes family), but it was a Christian event none the less. I'll go as far as not allowing any TV (a big no no on the Sabbath). Even though they live 20 minutes away, they CHOSE not to come. Haven't had much contact ever since. We're going on a year pretty soon. No regrets.
